Have you heard of setting intentions?
We’ve all heard of New Year Resolutions. I haven’t made one in years. I never stuck to them, they always seemed idealistic but impossible. And therefore I stopped doing them. I also had a small feeling of ‘meh, I don’t NEED IMPROVING!’ Maybe that’s just me. Perhaps they just felt a bit stifling?
So I started setting intentions instead. Choosing one, or two words that I wanted to ‘live by’ for the year, based on how I wanted to feel. Choosing a word to live by, gives us purpose and direction, and because the words are chosen from the heart – they provide inspiration and navigate us when we feel we’re losing our way in life.
The first year I did this, I choose Calm and Consolidate – after a particularly stressful time at work. I wanted to be able to live a calmer life. I also wanted to really consolidate my working life, acknowledge that I was where I wanted to be.
And last year, I chose Magic and Energy. I chose this quote from Roald Dahl as my mantra, isn’t it wonderful?!
And I think it’s safe to say that 2019, for me has been utterly magical and energetic (more of the metaphysical sense, I’m always blinking physically tired!)
2019 has been a great year, and I think I’ve achieved more than I even thought was possible.
So, now we’re about to uplevel into 2020, a new decade and I need to come up with my word for the next 12 months. I want to set intentions that will give me focus, and direction – something that will help me make decisions in my business AND my personal life.
So far, I can’t decide between BOLD. or JOY. Maybe I’ll choose both.
Choosing an intention is really powerful, it helps you decide what you want more of in life – and you know me, I’m always trying to reframe things into the positive.
